Roll Label

Labels produced with custom-cut dimensions and suitable for barcode printers are defined as roll labels. Roll labels are also known as barcode labels. In other words, the backing paper attached to the label is prepared in a roll form. This method allows the labels to be placed in the roll compartment of barcode printers, enabling many processes to be done in one go.

The labeling process also becomes faster. Roll labels not only provide significant economic advantages to users, but due to their long-lasting nature, they can be stored for up to 4-5 years.

Types of Roll Labels

There are various types of roll labels. Roll labels can be divided into two categories based on the type of paper used for printing: paper-based and plastic-based.

Paper-Based Roll Labels

  • Thermal Roll Labels: These labels do not have any protective layer and are laminated onto paper. As a result, the printer's heat liquefies the ink, which is then transferred to the paper. Due to their durability against external conditions, thermal labels are preferred in the food industry and retail sector.

  • Coated Paper Roll Labels: These labels are printed using a ribbon that transfers thermal ink during the printing process. Coated paper labels are available in glossy or semi-matte finishes and feature smooth surfaces.

Plastic-Based Roll Labels

  • Silvermat Labels: Known for their resistance to both hot and cold temperatures, these labels are durable and strong. They are widely used in lighting, automotive, and home appliance industries. They are available in matte grey and glossy grey colors.

  • Opaque Labels: Manufactured from flexible materials, opaque labels are extremely durable. They are resistant to heat and light, and their tearing resistance is negligible.

  • Fastrye Labels: Also known as fabric labels, Fastrye labels have a high adhesive property and can easily adhere to rough surfaces. They are predominantly preferred in the textile industry.

How Are Roll Label Printing Processes Carried Out?

The roll label printing process takes place in printing machines specifically designed for label production. Roll labels are produced using paper or plastic-based raw materials, both in printed and unprinted forms. The dimensions, printing techniques, and quantities can be specified and ordered according to your needs. The printing stages can be listed as follows:

  • Printing can be done in any color, starting with white.

  • For product-related label orders, visual printing can be applied to the labels.

  • Roll label dimensions can be adjusted to sizes such as 30×40, 30×60, 100×150, and 80×80 mm.

  • Paper types available include coated, opaque, transparent, metallized, and thermal opaque.

  • Printing techniques such as CMYK, foil stamping, or CMYK + foil stamping can be used, along with optional extra coating like varnish and lamination.
